Principle: Gary J. Silvi

Gary J. Silvi is the president of Vesper Property Group, a private real estate investment firm based in Philadelphia that has specialized in value-added properties for over two decades. Mr. Silvi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate Finance at the University of Southern California and has continued his studies at the NYU School of Real Estate. He also currently serves as a Board Advisor for the Villanova School of Real Estate.

Upon graduation, Mr. Silvi relocated back to the East Coast where he began Vesper Property Group. Some of the initial properties that Mr. Silvi developed were mainly large-scale land entitlement projects throughout PA & NJ, which he acquired and permitted for mining and heavy industrial uses. At the same time, Vesper’s principle had successfully negotiated challenging historical redevelopment projects and was at the forefront of the newly enacted Historical Tax Credits legislation in the early 1980’s.

Gary has had great experience with redevelopment projects, and in the late 1980s, Vesper and its partners transformed a 480,000 square-foot abandoned paper mill from the 1920s into a thriving industrial and office park with a deep-water port known as Riverside Industrial Park. With tenants such as Viacom and US Steel, the project earned one of the Outstanding Industrial Renovation Project awards from the Tri-State Real Estate Journal in 1996. Subsequent to the completion of the project, Silvi was appointed by Governor Tom Ridge to serve as his representative on the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority.

Since then Vesper has grown into an organization that has become recognized as a leader in challenging development projects in the region. As Principle of Vesper Property Group, Mr. Silvi has earned recognition through public and trade entities receiving various national and regional awards, including the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association, American Institute of Architects, Tri-State Real Estate Journal, the City of Trenton, and the Montgomery County Planning Board. In addition to representing the Philadelphia Port Authority under Governor Tom Ridge, Mr. Silvi has served on various public and private development boards, including the Bucks County Enterprise Board and The International Trade Council Board.

He has been a member of the Urban Land Institute since 2006 and now serves on its National Urban Mixed Use Council. Mr. Silvi was elected to the Union League in 2000 and currently serves as a board member of this prestigious organization. At the League he also serves as a member of the House committee, which oversees the physical property of this historical treasure as well as on the new Heritage Center construction committee.

Gary has been involved in other notable projects, including the Montgomery County Community College redevelopment project, which involved renovating an original structure dating back to the colonial era. This project received the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association Award for "Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation" in addition to a "Citation for Excellence" by the American Institute of Architecture.

Mr. Silvi resides in Villanova, PA, with his wife Monique and his two children.
